Joel Alleyne has worked in Management Consulting for over thirty years across the Americas and Europe. He is a member of the Entovation 100 Global Knowledge Leaders; which includes several global thought leaders and practitioners in the field who play a role in shaping the new knowledge based economy. Joel is also a faculty member with the Kaieteur Institute for Knowledge Management.
He has led Information and Knowledge Management efforts for several organizations as a consultant and has also as Chief Information Officer / Chief Knowledge Officer for Borden Ladner Gervais LLP – one of Canada’s largest law firms. He had several organizational leadership roles: as the CEO for several high tech companies; and as the National Director of Computer Services for one of Canada’s top Accounting and Management Consulting firms.
An active speaker throughout his career, he has developed and delivered workshops on Information and Knowledge Management for a variety of audiences across North America
He is also a frequent guest lecturer for various universities in the area of KM. Joel has acted as Practitioner in Residence with the Knowledge Media Design Institute at the University of Toronto (2005 – 2010). He is an adjunct instructor, with the Faculty of Information and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies. His research interests and commitment over the past fifteen years has been in the fields of Knowledge Management (including areas such as e-Knowledge Markets, Expertise Networks, Expertise Management, Organizational Networks and Communities of Practice) and organizational informatics (assessing the impact of information technologies on organizations). Joel is a member in the International Federation for Information Processing Working Group on Information Technology and Organizational Change (IFIP WG 8.2) – a group of international recognized researchers. He is a faculty member with the Kaieteur Institute for Knowledge Management. He was appointed to the Entovation 100 Global Knowledge Leadership Map which includes several global thought leaders and practitioners in the field who play a role in shaping the new knowledge economy in 2003.
